Discover some of our great stories

Living life to the full

Djodjo is the survivor of a vast illegal network. He spent 3 days in a wooden crate, with no light, before being taken in by Akatia.
When he arrived, he didn't react and let himself die. Today, he's a real whirlwind of life! He climbs from tree to tree and loves to drop branches on the carers' heads as if nothing had happened!

Fewer traps, more lives

You're probably wondering what the barbed wire in the photos is all about? These are the traps and cartridges used by illegal hunters in the forest. Thanks to close collaboration, teams from the Ministry of Water and Forests' Special Surveillance Brigade were able to catch more than 200 traps in 2023, thereby preventing the destruction of wildlife.

Amazing Coco!

Seized by the authorities, Coco was subjected to the worst atrocities (probably by expatriates who used him as a ‘pet’ before abandoning him in the city when they left the country). Beaten, terrorised and with a broken leg, he arrived at the Yapo-Abbé camp in terror. After a huge amount of rehabilitation work by our teams, he now goes out into the bush and struts around in the trees!

From poacher to forester

This is the story of Wilfrid, a former hunter turned protector of wild chimpanzees. After working to raise awareness, Wilfrid became a spokesman for the cause in the villages he visited, denouncing the poaching and hunting of chimpanzees.

WITHOUT YOUR SUPPORT, WE ARE NOTHING.

We have some major challenges ahead of us in the months and years ahead, particularly in view of the increasing number of rescues and poaching incidents.
